Jovetic scores brace for Manchester City as Liverpool come from behind twice and secure win on penalties at the Yankee Stadium.
Both Liverpool and Manchester City continue their pre-season warm up in America and met each other at the Yankee Stadium overnight in the International Challenge Cup. The Premier League Champions and runners up played in front of a crowd of 49,000 at what will be the home of the new Major League Soccer franchise – New York City next season.
Manchester City looked to be winning the came with 5 minutes left on the clock, but Raheem Sterling came to Liverpools rescue to secure a draw and take the game into penalities. Simon Mingolet, making his first appearance of the summer, stepped up to the plate and made 2 penalty saves, giving Liverpool their second ‘win’ on the bounce of their pre-season tour.
Liverpool now face AC Milan at the weekend and should they win that game, will finish top of their group. Manchester United currently top their group, and should they win or draw their final game against Real Madrid, we could see a Liverpool v Manchester United final in Miami. Tasty!
